Demonstrate Leadership |
|
Leadership comes in many forms. You need not be the president of the student body to demonstrate leadership. Pursue leadership roles that actually mean something and aren’t just empty titles. There are a number of scholarships that specifically seek students who have demonstrated leadership and shown a commitment to community service. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) is an example of an institution embracing such a program. The Levine Scholarship, described at www.levinescholars.uncc.edu, provides a full scholarship, a laptop, summer travel and leadership workshops and an $8,000 allowance for each student to pursue their own community service project. Total value for an out-of-state recipient is almost $140,000. Demonstrate leadership and integrity on your sports team, in your church youth group, in your school clubs or as an active supporter of a special cause. Document in your log book all of these activities and examples of how you demonstrated leadership. Related Article: |
