Create a Unique E-mail Address

Throughout your high school career you will provide your e-mail address to many colleges, scholarship search sites, standardized testing sites and other contacts along the way.  If you give these entities your private e-mail, you will find your inbox inundated with their many communications. 

If you set up a separate e-mail address just for your college and scholarship search purposes, once you are in college, you can disable the e-mail address and stop the onslaught.  Avoid cute or gimmicky e-mail addresses and instead go with a standard MaryBeth.Smith@abcmail.com.  Make sure that your parents know how to access this e-mail address if they are going to help you with your college and scholarship search efforts.
