Meet With Your Counselor |
|||
|
Meet with your guidance counselor at the end of the school year to review how your freshman year went, discussed what challenged you most and how that might affect your course choices for 10th grade. If you have developed some thoughts on your career interests or likely college major, mention that to your counselor since your plans may affect your future course choices. For example, if you plan to go to medical school, you will need to pursue a pre-med or science major in college. In that case, you may want to focus on heavier courses in the sciences throughout high school, pursuing advanced, IB or AP courses when possible. If you need to take special steps to become stronger in a given subject over the summer, talk to your counselor about how you might do that. Online courses, tutors, mini-camps and courses for teens at college campuses can all be good options. It’s better to strengthen your weaknesses now before they affect you in your coming high school years. |
